The Fight Against Motion Gaming

Today I read something that said XBOX is bringing voice recognition to the television for their new music addition to the system. The CEO said, “A game controller is a little too complicated for the average user and even a remote control is a little too complicated for the average family.”

Average as in average mentally? I’m sorry, but how retarded are these families and people if they can’t figure out a remote control? A device that’s been around for YEARS. This is just one of the small reasons I’m against motion gaming. I own a Wii but I don’t play motion games on it, and I will NEVER own a kinect. I don’t want to BE the game, I want to PLAY the game. Motion gaming takes all the fun out of playing the game. And they can’t even connect core games to motion gaming. Playing things like Tennis is fine, you just swing your arm back and forth, but how would you play a shooter? Just make pistol shapes with your hands and go “pew pew pew” at your television?

I’m not buyin’ it. I’m sorry.

To be honest, I can see the appeal of Kinect if you’re a parent. The games are more family friendly, you can play them with your kids, and it makes kids get exercise, but that’s the one thing right there. The push for motion gaming is all based around getting kids more exercise. It gets them moving. Apparently we do this because of child obesity. I keep hearing about child obesity, but where are all the fat kids? I don’t see any, and I live right next to a grade school. I live at the beach, where you see kids during the summer all the time. No fat kids. I smell just a marketing ploy for more money.

But to each their own. I hate it, but I unfortunately think it’s around to stay…at least for a while. like 3D was.
